(follow as needed, as desired, as you wish)
breakfast: freshly squeezed orange juice, a plate of waffles with melting butter and crispy bacon dripping with maple syrup, a wonderful cup of coffee
bath: almost spilling over, oozing with bubbles, topped off with beautifully fragranced oil (careful! if the bath is too full, the oil just drifts away down the overflow hole)
clothing: one of those gorgeous dresses you used to wear in your former life that's been languishing unworn in the wardrobe for nearly four years now, your most luxurious underwear (why not! every layer has the potential to look great even if noone's looking), your favourite ring, your most stunning necklace, a spritz of some perfume that's been on the dressing table unused for a very long time, your favourite scarf, your thickest tights, your best coat, your warmest boots (even tho they are walking boots and look slightly strange at the bottom of this outfit)
morning activities: the grocery shopping (not to forget purchasing the black treacle, dark brown molasses sugar, ground nutmeg, ground cloves and ground cinnamon for the peppakakka)(see below), the laundry, the rubbish/recycling
lunch: roast lamb shank, baked potato with sour cream
afternoon activity: baking your mother's seasonal biscuits - Norwegian peppakakka

dinner: a slice or three of crisp cheddar, a pile of crunchy biscuits, a huge spoonful of slinky chutney (oh, who am I kidding! it was more like a third of the jar), oodles of mini gherkins and silverskin onions
evening activity: turn off the main light, dim the side lights, light the exquisitely scented (you've been saving for a special occasion) candle on the mantelpiece - then curl up on sofa in front of the roaring fire (worry about the heating bill later) with a mug of spiced apple juice (masses of cloves, a bay leaf or two, as many sticks of cinnamon as you have left) and some chestnuts and a pomegranate and watch a really silly movie
result? I's cheery, even tho it's a very long very lonely very chilly weekendevening activity: turn off the main light, dim the side lights, light the exquisitely scented (you've been saving for a special occasion) candle on the mantelpiece - then curl up on sofa in front of the roaring fire (worry about the heating bill later) with a mug of spiced apple juice (masses of cloves, a bay leaf or two, as many sticks of cinnamon as you have left) and some chestnuts and a pomegranate and watch a really silly movie

Sounds wonderfully sybaritic, altho' we were doing much the same (no tights, personally, and I don't care much for lamb) even down to the pomegranates. Amazing colour, but can be quite tart.
And sometimes one's own company is just the best there is. Sometimes.
Ohhhhhh.....GOOD job!
Darn that I don't own a pair of tights.
None.
Not one.
I live in the frozen tundra and I have NO TIGHTS.
Sad, but true.
But you, dearheart--blew me away with the day's doings.
I NEED tights!
And a pomegranate! Or two. :-)
i felt friendship and warmth and cheer just now reading about your pick-me-up.
ahhhhh....lovely!!
xo
Well that was fabulous!
I have to read it all over again now just to make sure I didn't miss anything :)
