this is a man's world, but it wouldn't be nothing nothing without a woman or a girl
you see, man made the cars to take us over the roadman made the trains to carry heavy loadsman made electric light to take us out of the dark
man made the boat for the water, like Noah made the arkman thinks about a little baby girl and a baby boy man makes then happy 'cause man makes them toys
and after man has made everything, everything he can
you know that man makes money to buy from other man
this is a man's world
but it wouldn't be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl
he's lost in the wilderness, he's lost in bitterness

JAMES BROWN

and a very strange version with LUCIANO PAVAROTTI
(yes, that'll be Pavarotti!) (personally, I don't get it -
but then, there are a lot of things I don't get)

Er....
I was sort of hoping to hear Pavarotti do something beautifully blues-ey.
Still he did twinkle nicely at the beginning.

I love James Brown. I came ever so close to seeing him live in the small 1400 seat Joint, at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. I am so sorry I missed that performance.
The duet with Pavoratti was amazing in its own right. Different styles and genres, no doubt, but each special.
In this song, Brown does indeed honor women, and rightfully so. In the Native American teachings that I have been exposed to, the woman is the backbone of the family and community, the life givers, sole purveyors of life and love.
Thanks for this. Now I need to see other Pavoratti's performances. There's one with Christina Aguelera.

Peace.
