it's always sad

taking down the Christmas tree. . .
. . .well, I find it to be so. . .

I do love the Christmas tree and the Christmas decorations, especially those on the mantel. . . however, the tree, having grown for as long as it did, and brought as much joy as it has, eventually has to have its day, doesn't it - but why!!

one year, many many years ago, I didn't take down the decorations and in fact when all the needles had finally dropped off the now folorn and naked little tree I painted its branches and twigs white and kept it up for months. . . until the landlord complained. . . at the time my landlord was my brother and he complained to my mother, so obviously the tree came down shortly after that

boo hoo!!

she always did favour my big brother over my good self, and my little brother come to think of it - so much for being the only girl: the misery of being the middle one always ruled my day
my own much loved and totally adored (don't tell the other two) middle one, Teen Too (the son of a mother who was in the middle of two brothers and a father who was in the middle of two sisters) is Practically Perfect In Every Way but as time progresses ever onwards is increasingly subject to the influence of The Teen. . . I'll say no more. . .

*shudders*
.
but look what I found when I was searching Mrs G Image for "Mary Poppins' Tape Measure". . .

Awww....well, I was the baby of a blended family. And while one generally thinks of babies being favored, I was not! But I turned out okay....sorta....mostly.....

And I was a one and only but came in between the half and the steps. So I got the best and worst of all worlds I suppose.
Most appropriate, your teatowel (though not much use for measuring :)
