all the old paintings on the tomb they do the sand dance doncha know
if they move too quick they're falling down like a domino
and the bazaar man by the Nile, he got the money on a bet
all the crocodiles they snap their teeth on your cigarette
foreign types with the hookah pipes say ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
walk like an Egyptian
the blonde waitresses take their trays,
they spin around and they cross the floor
they've got the moves, you drop your drink then they bring you more
all the school kids so sick of books,
they like the punk and the metal band
when the buzzer rings, they're walking like an Egyptian
all the kids in the marketplace say ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
walk like an Egyptian
slide feet up street bend your back, shift your arm then you pull it back
life's hard you know, so strike a pose on a Cadillac
if you want to find all the cops, they're hanging out in the donut shop
they sing and dance, they spin the club, cruise down the block
all the Japanese with their yen, the party boys call the Kremlin
and the Chinese know, they walk the line like Egyptian
THE BANGLES

Wow.....
I don't know how anyone could sit amongst all this and not find a healthy degree of humility.
Talk about bringing a person to right size......
Amazing.
I don't know that speaking could even happen....
Splendid photos, thank you. And a whole summer's-worth of blue skies. Dare we hope for more?
Christopher when I was there I kind of longed for a change in the weather of an English variety, now I'm here I long for the reliable heat and blue of Egypt
*sigh*
Mel I tell you, it was awe inspiring
amazing
quite wondrous
yup, right-sized me, alright!
Is that Hatshepsut's obelisk on the left? I only remember because Karnak was the first place we visited - after that all the pharoahs and monuments became a bit of a blur!
Such an extraordinary place. The amazing thing is, the Egyptians kind of built the forerunners of skyscrapers! Centuries before we were building, I don't know, anything bigger than wooden round houses.
